Our Mission and Purpose

The mission of Bellview Baptist Church is to bring people to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to membership in our loving family of God where each can mature in Christ's likeness and become equipped to minister and magnify God's name.

Here at Bellview Baptist Church you will find a dedicated group of warm, sincere servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. At Bellview Baptist Church we simply believe that all people need to be in a vital relationship with God through Jesus Christ and subsequently be actively involved in a New Testament Church. We would love to have you be a part of this body of believers.

The History of the Church

In 1937 a small group met in the home of Lonnie Handrop and organized a Baptist Church in the Bellview community. As this small group grew, they organized a Sunday School and then Discipleship training classes. The original building was erected just outside of Saufley Field gate. The church thrived and God added to their numbers. In 1945 seeking to reach more of the community, the church moved the original building to the present address. Continued growth inspired the construction of the present Worship Center in 1954.

In the years that followed, God continued to bless the ministry of the church and added to their numbers. In 1967, to meet educational space needs, the Church built the Student Ministry Center. This two-story building provided adequate space for expansion of the ministries of the church. Seeking to reach more of the community, the church established a weekday childcare program and enlisted children from the community. This ministry is a vibrant addition to the church life even today, with around 80 children enrolled in day care and after school care.

In 1993, with a heart to reach out to the growing community, the church stepped out on faith to contruct the Recreation Ministry Center. The church has used this facility in various ways including volleyball, basketball, skateboarding, indoor garage sales, Craft Shows, Girl Scout activities, Youth "Hang-Outs" and fall festivals - just to name a few.
